Behind the Lens : Zahyr Caan

Founder & Lead Instructor, The Flat Frame

I don’t look at the streets as just concrete and brick; I see them as a shifting canvas of geometry, shadow, and human stories.

My name is Zahyr Caan, and I founded The Flat Frame because I believe street photography has become overly complicated by technical noise. Somewhere beneath the endless debates over camera bodies, sensor specs, and lens sharpness, the pure joy of framing a passing moment got lost.

The Flat Frame is my response to that noise.

I don’t teach you how to read a camera manual-I teach you how to read the pavement. My work focuses entirely on visual rhythm, spatial geometry, and the creative instinct required to capture high-contrast storytelling in real time.

Weather we are dissecting light over a morning coffee, or tracking shadows on the street, my goal is to give you a definitive creative reset. I cap every single public masterclass walk at a strict limit of 4 participants because I refuse to run crowded, noisy tours. I want to look at your specific frame, challenge your composition, and help you lock in a visual narrative that is entirely your own.
